Portsmouth will be aiming to make it four league wins on the bounce as they entertain Fleetwood Town at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth have won their last three games in the league. They have beaten Fleetwood’s fellow relegation-contenders Shrewsbury and Doncaster in that period and will be looking to beat another team languishing below them.

They are unbeaten against the leagues bottom eight sides, although it took a strike from distance by Louis Thompson to seal all three points.

Joe Morrell is set to return to the squad after his three-match suspension has ended, increasing the amount of first team players available to 17 senior players.

Danny Cowley said, “we’re short in numbers but we are big in heart”, and that application and desire is going to be key if they are to indeed get into the play-off places come the end of the campaign.

Fleetwood come into this after six games without a victory. They haven’t played a league game for two weeks though, with last Saturdays home tie against Lincoln being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch before Tuesday’s game against Sheffield Wednesday also fell foul to the weather.

Ahead of this, Fleetwood will be without full-back Callum Johnson who is on loan from Portsmouth with the Cod Army. Ellis Harrison will also return to his former club where he struggled for goals in recent years.

Prediction: Portsmouth 1-0 Fleetwood Town
Portsmouth will run out narrow winners, as Fleetwood drop into the relegation places this weekend.

One to Watch: Aiden O’Brien – Portsmouth attacker Aiden O’Brien has hit the ground running since arriving in January. He has scored two goals in his opening three games and will be key to Portsmouth’s chances of making a late push for the play-offs during the run-in.

Last Meeting: Lee Brown got the winner for Portsmouth on the opening day of season at Fleetwood Town.
