Pompey Remembers

A Pompey Remembers Commemoration will be held in the Guildhall Square, Portsmouth on Saturday September 9, starting at 10am.

Chris Pennycook from the Pompey Pals charity who have organised the event said:

“This year sees the Centenary of 3rd Ypres, better known as Passchendaele.

“The Commemoration this year will focus on the men from Portsmouth and the local area who served in the Ypres Salient during the course of 1917.

“The event will also help raise awareness of our Veterans today. We’re delighted that Veterans Outreach and Company of Makers amongst others will be joining us on the day.

The Living History Group, Ubique Right Of The Line will be adding a historical flavour dressed in period uniform.

An 18Pdr Field Gun will also be on show – thanks to Royal Armouries, Fort Nelson.”
