Pompey brought back a point to the South Coast from lowly Yeovil on Saturday as Gary Roberts late equaliser cancelled out Zoko’s opener.

Understandably there’s plenty of frustration around as a win would have closed the gap further on Oxford Utd in third who lost 2-1 to Accrington Stanley.

Pompey sit in 7th as the League 2 table currently stands, but there’s still 16 matches left for the Blues’ to make this season a real positive one to remember.

Pompey have lost just 5 in the league this season – the same as leaders Northampton Town – but who are now running away with top spot with 70 points.  It’s the draw column which has become the Achilles heel – the Blues’ totting up 13 – the highest in League 2.

A win for Pompey on Tuesday evening at Barnet – who lost 2-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday – and slip-ups for in-form Accrington Stanley and Oxford Utd, would see the Blues’ just 3 points from 3rd with a game in-hand.

The Accrington Stanley match on March 8th is already looking like it will be a pivotal match as the League 2 promotion race hots up.

If’s, but’s and maybe’s aside, let’s hope  the Blues’ ultimately look back on this season, with a big smile and relief. Until then, it’s a case of holding our collective nerve and believing it can be and will be our year.

Whatever the outcome this season, one thing is certain, Paul Cook should remain in place to maintain stability and mould the squad further for the 16/17 season.
