Fresh from winning the LFE pre-season tournament in Holland, the Pompey Academy U18’s kick-off their 2018/19 season this Saturday (18 August).

The U18’s host Yeovil Town at the Copnor Road Training Ground, 11am KO. They have another home match on Saturday 25 August against Newport County, 11:30am KO. View all of the forthcoming fixtures here.

The young Blues prepared for the new season with a trip to Holland which saw a 3-0 win against FC Dordrecht, before a 3-1 defeat to Vitesse Arnhem U19’s.

They then participated in the Volendam ‘Zilveren Botter’ Tournament last Saturday. Results were as follows:

Grimsby Town 2 – 0 FC Volendam U19’s

Portsmouth 4 – 0 Fortuna Sittard U19’s

Portsmouth 3 – 1 FC Volendam U19’s

Grimsby Town 0 – 0 Fortuna Sittard U19’s

Grimsby Town 1 – 0 Portsmouth

A convincing 4-0 win against Fortuna Sittard U19’s was followed by Pompey seeing off FC Volendam 3-1 which put them in the driving seat for the trophy due to the tournament’s rule of earning a point for each goal scored.

Pompey secured top spot despite going down 1-0 to Grimsby Town in their last match and enjoyed further success as Brad Lethbridge picked up the Player of the Tournament award and Stan Bridgman finished top of the goalscoring charts.
