Ben Davies has urged Pompey fans to bring the wall of noise for the last time at Fratton Park this season on Thursday when they host Plymouth Argyle in the first leg of the League 2 play-off semi-final.  

PNN: Firstly, congratulations with winning the vote for the PompeyNewsNow player of the season along with eight supporters’ clubs trophies, what’s been your personal highlights of the season so far?

BD: Personal highlights so far would probably be getting the player of the season awards at the end of the season.

PNN: You’ve had a two-match break ahead of the play-offs, no doubt you can’t wait to get back out there on Thursday against Plymouth. What’s the mood in the camp?

BD: The lads are chomping at the bit. Just desperate for game to come now.

PNN: What’s your pre-match ritual? Any superstitions?

BD: I’ve just got the same routine before games rather than any superstitions. I will always look at pictures of my kids and wife on my phone before putting my kit on though.

PNN: You started your career in midfield, when did you move to full-back? Which do you prefer?

BD: I’ve always either played full back or midfield throughout my career. Nigel Clough moved me back there permanently at Derby and I felt it suited me.

PNN: What one piece of advice would you now give a younger Ben Davies – if time travelling did exist of course!

BD: To rest more. I over trained a lot when I was younger and at times would feel exhausted during games.

PNN: Acknowledge all the focus on the play-offs at present, any progress with a new Pompey contract?

BD: The club said a couple of months ago that it was being left until the end of the season now before they talked to the lads out of contract in the summer.

PNN: Off the pitch, how have you and your family enjoyed your time on the south coast?

BD: Loved it. My boys love it here as there is so much to do for kids. The weather is so much better than up north.

PNN: Football and family take up majority of your time, any time for hobbies or other interests?

BD:  Dog walking as my dog never lets me sit down, constantly pestering me to be taken out. I do like a game of cricket as well.

PNN: What would you like to do after hanging up your boots? Any plans?

BD: I’m doing my coaching badges at the minute so would like to do that. I’m also into my fitness so something along those lines maybe.

PNN: If you weren’t a footballer, what would you be doing?

BD:  Not to sure. Probably a gardener.

PNN: Rallying call for fans ahead of Plymouth?

BD: Bring the wall of noise. The fans have been incredible all season and the lads are so thankful for their support, one more time at Fratton Park this season. Thank you.
