We take a look at the current crop of Pompey youngsters:

Alex Bass signed scholarship terms in July 2014 and with Paul Jones out injured has spent a number of matches this season on the 1st team subs bench. Saved two penalties against Bristol Rovers.

Alongside Bass in July 2014 were Calvin Davies (full-back), Kaleem Haitham (winger), Brandon Joseph-Buadi (striker), Adam May (midfielder), Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain (winger), Liam Sayers (striker) and Dory Yates (centre-back).

Davies, Haitham, Joseph-Buadi and Oxlade-Chamberlain all made their 1st team debuts for Pompey back in September during the 2-0 JPT defeat at Exeter City. Davies has since spent time on loan at National League South, Havant & Waterlooville.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is son of former Pompey and England international Mark Chamberlain, as well as brother of Alex who is at Arsenal.

May signed a first-year professional contract in August 2015 after making his first team debut in April 2015 at home to Bury. This season, May has spent time on loan at National League South, Gosport Borough.

Liam Sayers was spotted by Pompey whilst playing in a Dorchester six-a-side tournament at U13 level. He joined on schoolboy terms before signing a scholarship deal in 2014. He has spent time on loan at Southern League, Dorchester Town.

Dory Yates is currently recovering from a serious ankle injury suffered in the 1-0 defeat against Yeovil Town in October 2015.  Yates has not had much luck sadly as he broke his leg in February 2013 and it is hoped he will return again to full fitness at some point in 2016.

Dorset born midfielder Jez Bedford signed a two-year scholarship deal in July 2015, along with Harvey Bradbury (striker), Nick Hall (goalkeeper), Kyle McDowell (left-back), Ousman Saidy (centre-back), Tommy Scutt (midfielder), Eddie Wakley (defender), and Theo Widdrington (midfielder).

Bradbury is the son of former Pompey striker and now Havant & Waterlooville manager, Lee Bradbury.

Widdrington is the son of former Southampton, Grimsby Town and Port Vale midfielder Tommy Widdrington who is now manager at National League South, Eastbourne  Borough.

Other players who have featured for the Academy at U18 level this season include Matt Casey, Jack Chandler, Jack Collins, Dan Smith, Harry Tumber and Sam Woodward.

The winners of the eagerly awaited tie will be away to either Brentford or Leeds United in the 4th round, with the match to be played before Saturday 16th January 2016.
